As part of Cambridge 105’s Diamond Jubilee Marathon, Evening under Lamplight invites you to attend our two-hour special on the subject of Diamonds: gemstones, metaphors, playing cards; Dylan, Baez, Tom Waits, T-Bone Burnett, Waylon Jennings, and many more.
As always, an entertaining and intelligent selection and linking conversation.
I particularly enjoyed “Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend” for the sparkling concentration of rhymes in the fourth lines along with staccato, cynical delivery after the soupy first three lines: “…on your humble flat / Or help-you-at the aut-o-mat”, “…thinks you’re awful nice / But get-that-ice or else-no-dice”. Wonderful.
May I use your beautiful diamond on my homework page for my students? I will give your exquisite graphic credit if possible.
thank you mlk-prose
Yes, you may use this diamond, though you can probably also find it on Google Images.
